Highlighting the next stage in our sidebar reorganization campaign! We are still primarily focusing on Organization Dashboards (which have the highest financial complexity) and gradually introducing changes to individual and collective dashboards. As a reminder, the intention behind this redesign is to make the platform more coherent, intuitive, and welcoming, especially for new organizations.
Dashboard: Redefining “incoming money” vs “outgoing money.”
Expenses” becomes “Outgoing Money.”
Everything you pay out or approve for others stays in this area, including Disbursements, Payment Requests, and ‘Outgoing Contributions’ to external Fiscal Hosts or collectives on the Open Collective Platform (this used to live under contributions).
Contributions” becomes “Incoming Money.”
Money coming in, Contributions, Expected Funds, and Incomplete Contributions live here, along with ‘Issued payment requests’ (expenses) that were issued to collect payment through Open Collective (this used to live under expenses).

Internal Transfers
As we built the Outgoing & Incoming Money tools, it became clear that some financial activities are neither outgoing nor incoming. To accommodate these financial activities, an “Internal Transfers” tool has been added.
The tool includes:
- Internal transfers between accounts within your organization.
- Internal transfers between accounts within collectives.
- Contributions between collectives within your organization.
The tool is still a bit rough around the edges and will continue to evolve. For example, the tool does not yet include internal transfers generated by expenses (e.g., payment requests submitted by a host organization to collectives). We will be addressing this in future iterations.
Other changes
For individuals and organizations that do not manage money on the platform, “Expenses” have been renamed “Payment Requests.”
These changes have been released for everyone and if necessary can be switched off under Preview Features. If you do decide to turn these changes off we would really apprciate your feedback, so we can make improvements before full release.
