Some of our team, and members of the OFi and Open Collective family, will be in Brussels next week for FOSDEM 2026 (Saturday, January 31, 2026 and Sunday, February 1, 2026). We would love to meet in person, catch up with friends, and connect with new people who are curious about what we are building.
Who will be there
You can find us around the conference on both Saturday and Sunday:
- Shannon Wray, Benjamin Piouffle, and François Hodierne, representing Open Finance Consortium
our non-profit organization.
- Lauren Gardner and Benjamin Nickolls, representing Open Source Collective, the fiscal host supporting thousands of open source projects.
- Jean-François De Hertogh, representing Open Collective Europe Foundation, the European fiscal host based in Brussels.
- Andrew Nesbitt from ecosyste.ms, running the Package Management at FOSDEM
Talk at FOSDEM (Saturday morning)
Shannon Wray and Benjamin Nickolls will give a talk about our transition from the classic Open Collective platform to a community-owned, membership-governed non-profit, and what it takes to make that model work in practice.
- Track: Funding the FOSS Ecosystem
- Time: Saturday 10:30 to 11:00
- Room: UD2.218A
Open Collective meetup (Saturday night)
If you want a dedicated moment to chat, join us on Saturday night at the Open Collective meetup at Commons Hub Brussels. Expect conversations about funding, fiscal hosting, platform governance, and where we go next. Pizza is planned, and there will also be board games.
Before and after FOSDEM: Open Source Village
Around the FOSDEM weekend, Commons Hub Brussels is hosting the Open Source Village, a two-week pop-up base-camp for the open source community (co-working, workshops, meetups, …).
- Dates: January 26 to February 6, 2026
- Location: Commons Hub Brussels
How to connect
If you are coming to FOSDEM, reach out and we will find a moment to say hello. You can also connect with us on Saturday night at the meetup. Looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones in Brussels.
