What Does Managed Hosting Service Mean?

The term managed hosting is often used by Internet users, especially those who want to host their own websites and do not want to pay for web space or pay a programmer to maintain their sites. This term is commonly used in connection with dedicated hosting services but does not necessarily mean that the server of the dedicated hosting service is actually managed by a dedicated service provider.

Web hosts normally provide web servers to their customers for free because they are interested in growing their business. The customers, however, pay them for the use of the servers. If you think that a web host is still considered to be a managed hosting service when you get your server, the answer to your question is yes.

Dedicated web hosts are usually managed by a web hosting company or their representative, who is in charge of maintenance of the server. They may not have access to the server on a daily basis and therefore cannot control what is being run on the server. Some companies offer the service of managed hosting where the company actually manages the server. In this case, the company is still the owner of the server and will always maintain it, even when the customer is using it.

Other types of managed hosting include caching and mail hosting where the web host has a server dedicated to that service. These services allow the web host to cache pages, to send e-mails to customers and to set up billing.

Web based mail systems are also offered as managed hosting services. These include Joomla and PHP mail systems and allow customers to send e-mail messages and to manage other email messages from the web site.

However, for companies that operate multiple Web sites, such as online or international retailers, hosting with web hosts can become difficult. Some customers use a company-owned server for their own businesses, but this solution requires more maintenance and cost more than managed hosting. Therefore, if you are looking for a solution to help your business grow, consider a web based mail system or a caching service. They will both allow you to customize your web site to meet your needs and can give you more security.
